About the 2015 YCM Summit
Young Corporate Malaysians (YCM) is proud to bring to you our 7th YCM Summit, themed, ‘Smart Cities – The Next Frontier’. This year’s annual flagship event will host a wide range of speakers from the government, policymakers, corporate champions and technology vendors to discuss themes covering urban development, smart technologies and a connected city.
As the competition between cities intensifies, cities have evolved to become engines of economic growth. This is no surprise as cities are the platform for interaction between people, which facilitates activities of trade, invention and innovation. At the same time, cities are major centres of consumption of resources. The increasing rate of urbanization will expand the burden on the sustainability of scarce resources. Therefore, in this global race of smart cities, Kuala Lumpur must compete and challenge with the current times.
What can you expect?
This year’s summit asks the audiences one question, to envision what Kuala Lumpur would be in 2050. We believe that the competitiveness of Kuala Lumpur as a global city and as a hub for talent hinges on its ability to transform into a smart city of the future. Therefore, we hope to educate young corporate Malaysians on the development of Kuala Lumpur as a smart city, and facilitate discourse on what are the key elements and challenges of building a smart city.
Additionally, for the first time in our history, we will be involving our audience by means of case studies led by industry experts. Participants will have the opportunity to co-author a white paper on this theme. We aim to encourage our participants to dream, challenge and realize this shared goal of developing Kuala Lumpur into a smart city.
